I assume - 4(t - 9) = 0

The distributive property

-4(t - 9) = 0

- (4t - 36) =0

- 4t + 36 = 0

- 4t + 36 - 36 = 0 - 36

- 4t = - 36

-4t / - 4 = - 36 / - 4

t = - 36 / - 4

t = 9

-4(t-9)
Distribute the -4 with the terms inside of the parenthesis (i.e. multiply t and -9 by -4)
Doing that will give you
-4t+36
