Just about anyone can be a good story writer. It does take a lot of practice. The more you write, the better you'll get.

Make sure the most important part about your story is the story, and not the world. The world is important, but after you get that sorted out, forget most of it. Write the plot, and your world will show around it. Without the great story, the world is pretty useless.

The hard part after creating a wonderful detailed world is NOT writing it all into your story. You need the background for your world to work, but if you look at Tolkien's work, there is much more that he DOESN'T write than that he DOES.

So, the best thing to do after you create a world is to only mention things in the world when you need to. It is only interesting for so long.

At any rate, just sit down and start writing tales and stories that happen in your world. Eventually, one of them will become your story, and the rest will help serve as background, and give you a sense of depth to your world.

You'll do great! Hang in there.

Yes - with lots of practice! This is a hard question to answer. You really need to be able to draw a reader into a story and create continuous plot interest throughout the entire read. This can take great skill and stability within the story line. Hopefully you can leard to posses this skill as well as storytelling ability.

Editing can only help, and backstory is important as well. If you already have ideas, you just have to work on the way you write them out. When you finish a draft, give it to a friend to read so he can give you constructive criticism.
