Lots of luck.
As long as the biker is within the limits of the law, you're just SOL. You can videotape all you want, make as many notes as you want, cry and complain and moan all you want, but the bottom line is that a police officer must see the offense, he must then measure the decibles of the pipes using a certified instrument, and IF the decibles exceed the local ordinance, THEN he can write the ticket.
But I can guarantee you that if you call the cops on this, they're gonna tell you that they'll get someone out there "if they can." Which is their way of telling you they have MUCH more important things to worry about than the loud pipes of a motorcycle.
You and the other cagers out there who have little regard for bikers on the roadways are just gonna have to suck it up.

Well, I've just bought a beautiful, loud, Harley, but I also have kids, too. Unless you can prove the noise is truly a disturbance, you have to deal with it. However, for people who ride, remember that your bike is loud and try not to do more than start it, then ride out of the neighborhood and get your kicks somewhere else. I love the sound of my bike, but I also wouldn't want somebody's kids to be kept up late because of it. I try to minimize the impact of the loudness on my kids and neighbors as much as possible. For those who think it shouldn't matter if you rev your engine all night long outside of someone else's house, you're just being an ignorant fool. You give motorcycle riders a bad name. And, for those who think that we who enjoy loud pipes are trying to make up for a lack in another department, that's just as ignorant, too. I hate bass-thumpin' cars, but hey, if someone else likes it and it's not affecting me, who really cares?

only option i can think of is to call police. most towns and cities have noise ordinances during night hours. a lot of bikers believe that the louder the bike the better......for safety reasons. they are always not seen, so the extra noise is helpful to let other drivers know they are there. everyone has their own opinion on that subject, so we're gonna let that one go. if they are racing up and down the streets all night, by all means, call the police. if it is a once in a great while thing, well, that's up to you if you want to call. the bikers have a saying: "loud pipes save lives". and as we all know, some people have to go to the extreme and abuse it. that is why we pay police.

You're not a motorcycle enthusiast, are you? If I hear them, I just listen and enjoy the moment. I try to figure out what type of bike it could be, which road they're likely on and think about how much I wish I could be out there riding with them. Bill B and Ride On both have excellent responses, but watch out for Vlasko, I don't think he likes anyone.

Sorry, you can't. You'd have to get the police interested in measuring the noise level. Good luck with that.

Its the guys with small ***** that try to compensate by running unmuffled harleys. There's nothing wrong with a performance exhaust, and having a little common courtesy not to rev it at night in residential areas, however there is all sorts of morons running straight pipes reving the nuts out of their clapped out harleys late at night just trying to get attention. And guess what @ssholes youre giving bikers the wrong kind of attention. Grow the f@@k up.

Well you can either move out of the city ... or sound proof you home .
Bikes have enough problems with cars , the drivers of car's forget that bikes have rights on the roads too and noise is one way of making sure they are at least heard if not seen ..
Sometimes they get a bit carried away but unless they are breaking a noise by law in your place of residence there is nothing you can do ...

we have to make "loud noise" because too many or all people who drives cars and causes bike accidents uses the same "old" excuse: I DID NOT SEE THEM.......... by the way, my friend was hit last week , and a truck side swiped him. truck drivers excuse: "I DIDN'T SEE HIM".

smile to yourself and say gee i'll bet they are having fun
roll over and go back to sleep
If your son or daughter were riding a motorcycle and they were safer because it was louder than a car and people in their cars with their radios on high gear and their cell phones in their ears COULD HEAR MOTORCYCLES WHEN THEY ARE IN THEIR BLIND SPOTS
wouldn't it make more sense?
