I found pepper worked wonders! Garlic juice sprayed around does not make them too happy either.

My sister in law had problems with deer and raccoons in her gardens. She installed this motion sensitive doo hickey that shocks the bejeezus out of you LOL. I guarantee no cat would return and would look darn sheepish soaking wet.

That amonia solution is great but does it kill the plants upon application?

We use to have a pigeon coop in our back yard so we had a sling shot. We would not hit the cats but we would aim near them. They would run everytime and stopped returning after a couple of times. Other wise you can get a cat trap from your local humaine society or spca, there is usually a deposit which is returned when you take the trap with the cat back. Hope some of these ideas help and good luck!

You can put mothballs or citrus in the garden. Cats do not like the smell of citrus.

Cats dislike the smell of citrus: Try putting Orange and Lemon Peelings out; spraying the area with citrus-scented sprays; or sprinkling with an orange-scented pet bedding like Citra-fresh.
Spray cat repellent (available at pet supply stores) around the perimeter of your yard and along the top of the fences.
Sprinkle cayenne pepper in the area you want to keep the cat away from.
Scatter coffee grounds or pipe tobacco in the area.
Try growing the herb Rue- cats dislike the smell. You may also be able to buy it dried in health food stores.

Shake Away Powder for cats. Just put it around the perimeter of your yard. You could even sprinkle it throughout the yard. It is seriously amazing. I believe that is has animal urine in it that you can't smell, but they can. I've recomended it alot and also used the small critter variety myself. I have heard good reviews from those who used the cat repellent. It's also 100% organic and 100% safe. It is considered a "Green product" meaning that it is good for the environment and ozone layer. Hope it works for you if you decide to try it.

Keep your hose handy and spray the little suckers into oblivion....lol

I have a real issue with people letting their cats roam and mess up other people's yards. Keep them at home. How rude of them.
Letting cats run not only subjects them to disease but killed by cars, dogs and wild animals that roam close to suburbs.
These are not responsible pet owners and when their cats are caught by the by-law officers, they should fine the hell out of them.

Dang... some people are stupid! I can't believe some of the answers you've got!

This one is real. You know how cats urine smells like amonia? That's because it has a high concentration of amonia. If you spray amonia around the perimiter of your yard, like as a cat would spray, the strays will stay away. They smell that amonia and think it is a big cat that owns that territory.

this may sound mean, but it works. Put rat traps in ther flower beds (just small ones) and it will click onto their tail and they won't bother you anymore. Also, if you sprinkle cayanne pepper in the yard, they won't come back. It bothers their noses.
Here's what works everytime: Pee in a cup and sprinkle it over the lawn. No dogs or any animals will go on your lawn. Good luck.

Call Animal Control and get traps for them. Animal Control will pick them up. Cat owners don't care that their cats come over to your home and use your flower beds as a kitty litter box. I believe there should be a leash law for cats.
Sorry, just felt like venting!!!
PS....I only adopt my pets from Animal Control or a Humane Society.
