Never really thought of that. I liked the thumbs up more.

No, I do not believe that a star will give you a better change of being picked best answer.
It is because I do not even look at the stars until I am done choosing the BA most of the time.

I only star a question that I think is really good.
I put things on my watchlist that I want to keep an eye on the answers it gets, because it's something I'd like to know more about.
I thumbs up answers that I agree with and like, and this is what I take into consideration when voting for best answers, other then the actual answer itself.

I think thats pretty kiss-A*s to be honest and i much prefer to read peoples problems or fun questions and respond with an honest answer rather than starring them. I'll only star if i really like the question or it makes me laugh; I prefer giving and receiving thumbs up :] Nice question though

I star because I think the asker has made a good point or asked an interesting question on a subject that I am passionate about or usually I just forget!

Nope!..It just simply means I really liked the question I just answered as honestly or humourously as I possibly could, and I thought the asker deserved to have a star for making my brain work overtime....Hope you are the ..star..of your day, today !!......

No, and I don't star for that reason. I star because I thought it was a very good question.

I certainly do not. The points in a ideal world should be given to an question that in the opinion of the asker is adjudged to be the best.

I confess that I do that sometimes -- as if he/she will see that I starred him/her, and maybe I can brown-nose my way into a best answer. Doesn't work most of the time, though.
