Okay, so in preparation to boil my new driftwood, I got out my biggest stockpot and found that unfortunatly, it's too big to go in a HUGE stockpot that i have. Will it be okay to set it in the sink, and pour the boiling water over it a couple of times? I wish you guys could see it, this is a monster piece of driftwood.

If it is that large, put it in the tub for a few hours if no one is using it. And pour the boiling water over it
It should be fine.

No need to boil, put wood in bucket and pour hot water...boiling water okay too, and let the wood soak. The main reason for this is that the natural driftwood can make the water colored from it's natural fibers, so instead of having to make water changes it's easier to soak the wood for a few days and change the water in the bucket. If you were to put it in the tank and the water did get a coloration it wouldn't be harmful to the fish, it's just basically for asthetic purposes.

I agree with most of the above, however, it took my driftwood about 2 weeks to leach out all of the tannins. Soaking it for a couple of hours will do nothing. Basically, the water turns a soft amber, or yellow color. Doesn't harm the fish, but it does look a little funny for a while. Water changes and time will take care of this aesthetic matter.

I agree, not need to boil. Just soak the wood a few hours and that should help release the materials that discolor the water and help it to sink in the tank.

Unless its covered with fungus, you don't really need to boil it.

I like the above reccomendations to just use your bathtub.
