"To put Stockton's statistical dominance in perspective, there are only four other players in NBA history who have logged more than half of Stockton's career totals in both assists and steals (which Stockton holds the all time records for): Magic Johnson, Gary Payton, Isiah Thomas and Jason Kidd. There is no other player in league history who has more than 60% of Stockton's career totals in both assists and steals."
Not to mention, he averaged a career double-double per game. That is pretty tough playing 19 seasons and only missing 22 games your entire career.
Those are only a few facts about Stockton, and like everyone has said above, it is a shame that Stockton never won a ring because he really was that good.

Stockton was too underrated. Now nobody ever mentions him. But look.... he is the all time assist leader.
He was the Steve Nash of that decade. They were in different times but I think what Stockton lacked was a good enough team to be Champions. He's being overshadowed by MJ and Karl Malone. If he played in a different era he would get much more recognized. Too bad he had to play when Jordan was playing.
Damn you Jordan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But Stockton was a great player no doubt.

For his time, yes he was great... not one of the best, but great.
Malone had a big part in that to though, if Malone doesn't get the the ball in the bucket, then Stockton doesn't get the assist!

Stockton was good but not great. He played in a weak conference, had a hall of fame forward scoring every time he passed him the ball, and was not afraid to play dirty. Michael Jordan called him the dirtiest player ever. I used to hate watching him and Malone play. It was as boring as a WNBA game, and that is a bold statement.
