Since you didn't specify whether this should be relegated to professional football, I will give you several answers:
Pro Football - 1972 Miami Dolphins; 5 Hall of Famers on Offense, 1 Hall of Famer on Defense, Undefeated Record, and Greatest Coach ever. 'nuff said!
College Football - 2001 Miami Hurricanes. Undefeated National Champions. More than half the team is currently playing professional football, with many Pro Bowlers.
Pop Warner League - 1972 Lawrence Harbor/Cliffwood Beach Jets. Nine straight wins to close out the season, dominating performances in Divisional and Conference Championship games.

Its hard to dispute the 72 Dolphins becuase NO other team has gone undefeated in history. However the 78 Steelers would probably be able to out physical the smaller and slower Dolphin players from that era. Honestly I think the 85 Bears are the best team of all time. Impregnable 4-6 defense led by Singletary and an Explosive offense led by Sweetness. That team lost only one game (to the Dan Marino led Dolphins) but beat strong Giants and 49'ers teams in the playoffs that year too.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are the best team in the past,in the present, and in the future, and forever.I am a steeler fanatic. There are 3 teams with 5 super bowl wins 1)STEELERS 2)49ERS 3)cowboys so its a toss up to who is considered the best. One could make a valid arguement for each.Hell, the Buffalo Bills made 4 super bowl in a row,if they hadn't lost all of them they would be in consideration.Who is the best team ever depends on who you ask.I'm sure in Wisconsin they say packers,in Illinois they say Da' Bears,in Boston its the Pats.I offer you this, i was born in 1973 from childhood untill this day i have been a Steelers fan,and get this-i'm not from Pittsburgh or even Pennslvania.I am from knoxville,Tennessee a real long way from Pittsburgh. The Steelers have captured my heart for 34 years and i have only drove through Pittsburgh on one occasion.I love the steelers and as far as i'm concerned they ARE the GREATEST EVER.

Well, my Green Bay Packers were pretty good in their day, but I won't make the expected selection. The best team is often considered to be the one that won the most Super Bowls, and that's ok, and the answers are then fairly predictable. But a team that is dominent for five years, and goes to five straight Super Bowls and is competitive in all of them and has the best record in football for those five years deserves to be mentioned. Do I think that the Buffalo Bills are the best team ever? Uh, no. But for five years they won more games than anyone ever did, went to five straight Super Bowls, and somehow they have a reputation as "losers." Well, they weren't.
Probably the 49ers under owner Eddie DeBartolo and Coach Walsh and Joe Montana and Jerry Rice and (my pick as the second-greatest player in history, after Walter Payton) RONNIE LOTT, and an awesome balanced defense, an awesome balanced offense, no salary cap, a great owner, all-Pros everywhere who, unlike the Yankees, actually played TOGETHER, these were the best teams ever. too many great players to list---Taylor, Craig, awesome linebackers, great front line coached by the best position coach in history---Bob McKittrick, they were simply a team with no weaknesses.
They had an owner who paid huge salaries, sent greeting cards and presents to all players, coaches, staff and their wives and children on birthdays, anniversaries, etc, handed out towels in front of the locker room at halftime, and let others make the football decisions. We'll likely never see a team like that again, and it all started with the owner.

All these answers only one right. The answer is the 85 bears. Yes the dolphins went undefeated but not in a full 17 week schedule. They were good but not great they just had one good year. The bears were amazing. They manhandled opponents and broke their spirits before the game even started. Teams didn't want to even show up to play them and that's why they were the greatest RESPECT!

The 1972 Miami Dolphins are the only ever undefeated team. I would say that qualifies for best ever. I think the '85 Bears are a close 2nd.

This is on the American football site so no to the soccer teams. But which do you want College or pro big difference. Steelers of the 70's best team (and I am not a steeler fan just saw them alot in cincy, Cleveland, and pitts during that period. College depends on the era. Maybe the Alabama or Ohio State teams from the 60's.
