Chances are you have a fan going bad either inside the computer or in the power supply.
See if you can isolate where the sound is coming from, and you may just need to blow the fan out really good with some compressed air. If it is shot, then you might just need to replace it. Sometimes a failing fan will allow your processor or other components to get hot, and can affect performance.
If it isn't a fan, and instead it is your hard drive continuously running - then you may have a virus or other problem. I usually start by downloading adaware personal for free from lavasoft.com. Make sure it is updated, and run a full scan. It will take care of malware/spyware/etc. (not viruses) but I still like to get that out of the way early.
Next press ctrl+alt+del and bring up the 'task manager' and pick the 'processes tab'. Make a list of everything in it, and then search for each item online for directions on how (and if) to remove them.
Finally, run scandisk, and then defrag on your hard drive to get it squared away.
If you are still having problems, and suspect a virus, then search for free virus scan software, and determine exactly what it is, then you can probably find either step by step instructions for removing it manually, or little freeware programs that will do it for you.
I usually don't suggest getting anti-virus software, since most of it seems to be pretty useless, and just takes up room and wastes your time with a bunch of meaningless messages and requests for permission. The fact is, the first people to get the latest anti-virus software and virus definitions are the people writing the viruses in the first place so that they can determine how to make workarounds.
Good luck!!!

The sounds you hear from your computer are not related to computer viruses. The most likely cause of the brrrr is one of the fans has dust stuck in it, or something similar.
As to your computer running slow, get an anti-virus and run it regularly, but also get spyware detectors. Spybot is a good one and its free on the internet.

The brrr sound may be the fan attached to the heatsink over the CPU.
Try going to download.com and getting a free spyware program such as Spybot and run that to detect malicious programs.
You should also have an antivirus program and, if not, get the free AVG antivirus from download.com.

Probably the fan on the CPU, although it should not be loud. As for viruses, get Norton Internet Security. It is a fine program.

running slow and you hear a noise? maybe your hard drive is trying to die. When your system ram is full, it will start using the hard drive as logical ram. If it's making noise, I would say it's about time to swap out hard drives. I would also upgrade your ram to a higher amount (around 1+ GB) to keep it from hitting the hard drive so much.
