Shake away for small critters. I would swear by the stuff. You just shake the powder around your garden and they stay away from it. I've recomended it to many people and they love it. I believe it has something like fox urine in it that scares them away. Try it... it's fairly new so it doesn't have much publicity yet, but I've been recomending it all spring and I've used it myself. From my experiance and my customer's experiace it works. It is also 100% environmentally friendly. One of the few pesticides like this! In addition to that you could set up a small feeder for them. This should give them an easy source of food. Good luck... I know that squirrels can be a pain.

Hard situation. I am having the same problem. Try spraying the tulips with a solution of water and tobasco sauce. The say that they dont like the smell of daffodils so you you plant them it may deter them because they dont like the smell. As far as the digging, it depends how much space you are gardening that they are digging up. For me, I have tried something new this year. They sell plastic mesh that looks like hard chicken wire. I have layed that down and they cant dig thru it. The only thing is that my tulips are growing and they need more space to grow so I replaced where they are growing with milk crates. They can only sit and watch my tulips and bulbs grow. I cant harm them but they have distroyed my garden in the past. As soon as I plant a bulb, they are in back of me digging them up and torment me by holding it up and showing me that they have my prize possesion. One time I planted annual plants and when I got home from work they dug each one up. I am at war with these squirrels and I dont care if the milk crates look funny, I am determined to beat these squirrels. Before I put the milk crates down, they would sit on my fence in front of my window and they would watch for me and hold up the bulbs that they dug up from my garden. I dont want to harm them--they are not afraid of me and will just sit and stare at me when I am outside. I am going to get a big water gun and squirt them and see if that also helps. I am on a mission to win.

I feed my squirrels . As long as they have food they leave my garden alone. I have tulips , hostas and rhododendron's and they don't bother a thing unless I don' t feed them for days. I love watching them they are so entertaining and relaxing.

My mother suggested laying down rat wire under my raised beds to keep moles out. Perhaps ratwire over your bulbs will do the same with squirrels?
Good luck!

I watched a Discovery and Science channel bits on squirrels. The ONLY way to get rid of them permanently is to kill them. Sounds harsh, but I saw allot of things people used and bought, nothing worked.
