Why should the distance that you live away from the job come into play if you are a dedicated worker?

I live 20 minutes and 15 miles away from work and I'm one of the closer people. As long as your commuting time does not interfere with your work- there should be no problem.

This was a BS excuse for not wanting to hire you. You are better off not working for such a shallow organization.

Good Luck and keep looking.....

I dont see why it should make a difference to your application for the job how far you live. I live about 15 miles from my job. My dad used to live over 60 miles from work and was always in by about 7am.

It makes no difference, and I think you should call them up and ask why this has been a factor in their decision.

That is really rotten of them. If you're prepared to travel the distance, they should at least give you a trial period. 16 miles isn't really that far. Some people travel a lot further day in, day out. Good luck next time for getting work.

This should not have a bearing upon your application, unless there is a stated requirement, that you live within a certain distance, in order to respond to any emergency. I'd speak with an attorney, as this might be a prejudicial issue.

Sorry to hear about that but it doesn't surprise me. When I left my career and went elsewhere I was told I was too old (at 32 as I was then) or over qualified (having a degree and a diploma). Don't let it get to you, it's their loss, use them as a stepping stone to another job.

Idiots! Didn't they know where you live before calling you for an interview? Look at it this way, you're better off not working for such idiots.

I would have employed you for your sheer guts and determination and the fact you were prepared to get off your butt and try.
