I use to give the number of a info line. It gave the time, temp, and weather forecast. No one wants my number anymore, which is ok cause have a great wife.

Dont be mean. Some of those joke numbers i heard are really mean. If you dont want to give someone your number just either plain out tell them you dont want to give it to them or make up a number or just tell them you dont have a cell phone or something. You could just tell them your boyfriend or girlfriend would get mad if they found out. Just be nice about it.

Anything that begins with 555 works as a joke phone number.
You'll notice in TV&Movies all numbers begin with 555(because nobody has these numbers).

I don't think there is any reason to be mean about it..
You can just politely tell them that you're not interested, or that you don't like to just give your phone number out like that.
Honesty is always the best way to go.

Just tell them you do not give out your phone number, and then ask for theirs. File 13 is close at hand.

The greatest way to handle that is to make up a phone #. I've done it many of times. Just make up one in your head, they're not going to know the difference. Trust me.

What makes you think you need to give them a number at all?
Just say you are not interested.
If you are interested but don't yet trust them give them your e-mail address. No way to know where you are from that but make sure it is a disposable one like Yahoo.com or gmail.google.com.
