Lets compare ourselves to two animals, horses and dogs. We both breathe, we both sleep, eat, drink, have eyes, ears, mouths, lungs, stomachs, spines, blood. And we're not connected? Why do people think they're better than animals? We are just very intelligent, just because we're very much more intelligent, doesn't mean we're better, look; birds can fly naturally, we can't? We're not superior to animals, because we are animals, or isit just one big coincidence that we have all those qualities the same. We are mammals, we are two sexes, male or female and we must have sex to reproduce, just like animals.

Dr Doolitle said 'man is an animal too'
we're just a different breed of animal. That doesn't mean we aren't animals though.

Lots of animals walk on their hindlegs including all birds, some dinosaurs, other primates occasionally, the giant pangolin, bears can do it, and human infants don't, so that's not a criterion that truly distinguises us from other animals. However, we are obligate bipedal as adults, and this is not true about any of the other apes, so that does separate us from them.
The big difference between us and animals is simply a matter of degree. We are figuring out all the time that animals are smarter than we previously thought. Google "caledonian crows" and you'll see some example. Also, there has been many recent examples of chimps using organized hunting, even using sharpened spears for the task. It was once thought that effective tool use and such foresight separated us - but in reality it is the degree of these things. Instead of sharpened sticks, we have the ability to create world-threatening nuclear weapons.
It's still yet to be determined whether we actually have more foresight.

Yes, we are animals (mammals) from a biological perspective. What makes us different is our spiritual awareness. A dog can only be a dog and is governed by instinct. We on the other hand can choose how we want to act or behave. We can learn from our past mistakes and hopefully become better people. Another thing we do that animals don't is contemplate our own existence and reach out to others in need, and despite today's atheistic world view man has always reached out to GOD or a god.

Sure, we are mammals and share those characteristics, but we do some things better and some things worse than animals.
Birds fly, and so can we if Jet Blue ever takes off.
Horses will race until they die if we tell them to.
Dogs are love embodied.
They don't care how you treat them. They just want to be petted.
The significant difference become the act of decision making that makes man so different and yet apart from pets.
We decide, they do.

The biological functions between humans, horses, and dogs are very similar. We are all mammals. What makes us different is our unsurpassed cognitive abilities: our ability to reason and think logically. The human brain is the most complex phenomenon that we know of. We also have opposable thumbs, which allow us to grip objects, and that allows us to make tools. If we didn't have opposable thumbs, our world would be much different. Another advantage is the fact that we walk upright.

Yes we are animals. We have an ability to reason that other animals do not. God gave us a superior brain able to process his teachings of the Bible and Commandments so we may act in a moral and ethical way. If we want to follow Gods words or not is up to each of us. Other animals do not have this choice. We are the caretakers of the other animals on this earth, if we chose.
Logic and ethics are different, All animals are logical, they eat when they are hungry, they mate when their hormones tell them too. It takes ethics to separate the human animal from the other animals, not that all man kind has chosen to be ethical but God gave us all the ability to control these functions. It is a choice of free will which God has given us that animals do not have.

The term 'animals' was made up by humans to describe other species that were somewhat like us but not quite. You're absolutely right tho, they are no better than us. We're just a different species but still animals so yea...we are animals, I guess. Unless I'm wrong

Yes, we are animals. The difference being is that we are AWARE that we are aniamls. Other animals are not aware.
We can't do many of the things other animals do naturally but we can build and create substitutes that mother nature can only dream of creating.

YOu 're right, almost all animals can do more amazing things than us, but what makes the difference is our brains. The brain gives us the ability to dominate other species and to be aware that we are actully not as good as we think we are, other animals do not seem to be able to do that.
