I agree I'm the only female in my house so the toilet seat is mostly up
I could`nt care a less if its up or down it only takes a second either way
There are a lot more important things to worry about than whether the toilet seat is up or down

If you flush a toilet with the lid and seat up poo particles disperse all over the bathroom - scientific fact. Therefore the most hygenic position for the toilet seat and lid is down.

Well, when they are hanging up in a store to purchase, is the seat up or down? It's not up. Men and women both use it when it's down, but only men can use it when it's up. When you use a public restroom, the toilet seat is always down. I hope I have shed a little light on the subject for you.

It's respect for a male to put it down for the woman. Also, it's hygienic to put both seat AND lid down while flushing, staph can fly 4 feet into the air while flushing with the lid up.

When you walk into someone Else's bathroom doesn't it look neater to see a "closed" toilet in stead of it sitting there open & smelly.
It's a known fact that when a toilet is flushed millions of germs splatter all over the bathroom & RIGHT ON YOUR TOOTH BRUSH !

we women get tired of either sitting on some tinkle on the seat or getting up in the night and getting our bums washed with toilet water that is why I always turn on the light before sitting down

you sound like my hubby and brother. they gang up on me and say I left the seat down.
but you have to put the lid down when flushing b/c germs float up in the air so that is why its the default position!
