Rebecca, "Excalibur" may fit your collection nicely. I have seen the film multiple times during the course of seven years, and I never seem to grow tired of it. "Excalibur" is collectible in that it is by far the best version of the Arthurian legend. It is a 1981 film by John Boorman, and it is guaranteed to move you to tears and also be inspired. "First Knight" and 2004's "King Arthur" doesn't even come close to this.

And since now that you've mentioned the word "classic," I will recommend a set of films that are "classics" but not in the sense of the word from your question. Almost all of BBC's productions of the English classics are collectible. Works like "Pride and Prejudice," "North and South," "Wives and Daughters," etc. are very collectible because they have a broad appeal and at the same time, not like your Hollywood film. If you get these for your collection, you will never ever regret getting them because they are mostly VERY rewatchable, and can be enjoyed by the whole family.
