Depends where you are and how popular the band is! I work on ticket sales at our local rock pub and most of the bands will play for nothing when they are low down the programme and trying to make a following. Bands then progress to £100 for a 40 mins spot as top of the bill of local bands, touring bands typically command £400- £500 for their contribution. I have seen bands command up to £1000 and only attract 20 or less at the door. The Boardwalk in Sheffield poll the customers as they enter - which band have you come to see? and the gate money is divided in the proportion who have come to see each band!
Best regular money is for cover bands who get regular gates just to hear the music £300 is not out of the question, and regular booking on the pub and club circuit.
I play in a dance band and usually ask for £50 per player with a minimum of 4 players!

norm c is right - you'd only expect 300 (all figures per band, not per performer) if you're a covers band doing a wedding or a pretty established band on tour - local bands get from nothing to 80-100 for playing. I still wouldn't see a 2 hour covers set in a pub getting more than 200, and when I've booked big underground acts from the US like Deerhoof they're in the 800-1000 bracket

In my area local rock & country bands that play clubs are paid between $350-500 for playing approximately 3 hours with about 1 hr of combined breaks. On New Years these same bands bring in $1000-1500 for the same time! I am not talking about really good bands either! They are in a $500-900 range for the same time or less. Karaoke in this area is only paid about $150-250 for 3-4 hours. WV/Ohio

The highest paid performance I've heard of was Barbara Striesand, she was offered millions to perform as we entered the new millenium. Not sure on the outcome though.
