About $ 3000- 4000 depending on your flair. I don't know your beliefs or the dead person's intentions, but you could do alternatives to burial at a plot with a tombstone and save about $ 1000.
Both my dad and mom were cremated. My dad's ashes were scattered in Pensacola Bay, FL and my mom's at a highway welcome center on the MD/PA state line.

Depends where you are. If you belong to a church or if funeral director will conduct service. Plot for burial - if you must purchase a plot, they also vary greatly. In city area more expensive than in a country area. I suggest either scattering the ashes in a favorite area or keeping the remains with you until you find your answer over time. Again - tombstone would not be necessary for scattered ashes. Some cemeteries have rigid requirements. Some have no requirements. I am a member of a cemetery association for Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin. A plot would cost between $100-$200, no requirement for tombstone. Cremation without embalming (which is not necessary if body is not to be viewed) is less expensive than having body viewed, which necessitates embalming.
