The New Deal, Roosevelt's program to get us out of the depression, did as it was intended. The problem is that now we are left with a welfare state that cannot be controlled by any level of government and with politicians who do not dare even suggest we do away with many of the "entitlements" still in existence. Food stamps is one program that is VERY abused. First, by those who use them to buy luxury foods most of us who pay taxes for the food stamps can not afford. Secondly by those who receive them fraudulently!! AND they do!! Welfare, as a whole, is totally out of control, and only a few of those who receive such assistance need it, deserve it, or qualify for it!!
