what driver do i need to download to have my cd drive work? i have windows 2000?

I had win 2000 about a year ago i had someone work on my computer and they upgraded me to XP....yah .... Well it was not Guenine, i did not know what they did i was just happy with all the new stuff, come to find out i had to have win 2000 reinstalled in my computer so i took it to a guy here in Aransas Pass and he charged me 210.00 and 3 times in there because i could not get anything to work, (DRIVERS) now i know,(and the guy who reinstalled wins. would not tell me what the problem was. He wanted me to keep commong back So He Could Charge Me. ) Please help me i cant afford to take my old laptop back for service or help or anything at this point..

What manufacturer? Most of them put the drivers on the website so you can download them and get the machine set up just like it came. Compaq, HP, Toshiba, Sony, Fujitsu, Dell etc. nearly all of them have the drivers. Just visit the website, click on support, find the drivers.

(PS, change the guy to a reliable service provider anytime a system is reloaded getting and installing all the drivers is or at least should be part of the deal!)

ok well i am sure you may not know the model and make of your cd drive that would be the first thing to know before getting the right driver, technically windows 2000 should automatically recognize it but i understand sometimes that may not happen....

so try to run hwinfo32
get it here www.hwinfo32.com
(the windows version)

that is if you are on the internet with this computer...

once you get the make and model you could try driverguide.com and register for a login and search for that

Get a geniune one,format yours laptop.No need to ask anyone to do for u,u can do it yrself.Just insert the disc,restart the com then follow the steps stated on the com screen.Before do a back of impt data that u want to keep.That shld solve everything.
