Goodness meaning that which is for the benefit of all mankind, and evil meaning denying that any supreme source of goodness exists.

Let me put it this way, if God, the supreme source of all goodness, is evil, which is the belief of many atheists, and evil, which is the denial of Goodness, is good, where would our lot be? We as human beings are forced to do whatever we are able to do to survive, and thrive-cry, scream, whatever. We're not particularly concerned with the common good- even in helping others we do it for the good feeling that we get, thank Goodness!

Okay, I'm just digging myself in deeper, aren't I? I mean to say antitheists, since atheists obviously don't believe there is a God! Good answers- everyone! I love the discussion- I'll go back to the drawing board for the question.

How can Dr. Jekylle & Mr. Hyde exist fully at the same time?

--In accord with Stevensons presentation they are either one or the other at one time.

--SO THEN WHEN good exists in a person and is expressed then evil is not being expressed!

--SCIENTIFIC LAW 2 things cannot occupy the same place at the same time!

--AND WE have a choice what will be dominant in our lives, GOOD or EVIL!

ILLUSTRATION:

Hitlers producing the Volkswagon in Germany could not possibly overshadow the Monstrous Evil in that obsenity of a man!

IN THE ASPECT OF GOD:

He is either all Good or all Evil he cannot be both--THERE ARE the human factors that people try to relegate on to God , but that cannot be done BECAUSE he is not like us!

--A FALSE PROPHET of God had to admit this of the True God , when an enemy wanted to get Jehovah God to curse(punish) Israel , when there was no reason:

(Numbers 23:19) “19 GOD IS NOT(my caps) a man that he should tell lies, Neither a son of mankind that he should feel regret. Has he himself said it and will he not do it, And has he spoken and will he not carry it out?”

--Moses in his portrayal of Job's suffering and Elihu , a friend of Job, who was trying to help Job reason on his relationship with the Almighty, said this:

(Job 34:10-12) “10 Therefore, YOU men of heart, listen to me. Far be it from the [true] God to act wickedly, And the Almighty to act unjustly! 11 For [according to] the way earthling man acts he will reward him, And according to the path of man he will cause it to come upon him. 12 Yes, for a fact, God himself does not act wickedly, And the Almighty himself does not pervert judgment.”

The good and evil that you see don't even exist in reality, at least not outside of the mind that believes in them. They are only judgments passed by the individual from their own unique perspective. What one person sees as bad or evil may seem to be the only logical thing to do from some other perspective. The ideas of both good and evil are point of view specific. This is why people like bush and bin laden are either loved or hated. Bush is seen as good by people who share his fear based thought system. Those who have a compassionate concern for all of mankind often see him as evil.

Bin laden is much the same. He is a villain in much of the western world, but he is somewhat of a celebrated pop star on the Middle East. There are T-shirt shops that sell items with his picture as though he was Jesus. It all depends on your point of view or perspective.

To sum it all up good is the name we give to people who do things that we think we like.

Evil is the name we give to people who do the things that we don’t like.

This is of course based solely on our particular point of view.

Love and blessings

Good can definitely be perceived as evil; meaning God can and is perceived as good and evil by us, but it doesn't work the other way around; meaning God does not perceive us as good and evil; and that's why we're not dead.

Now you think about this: God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning—the sixth day....Gen. 1. 31

Enjoy!

A small very basic flaw in your statement here I think.

Good is not evil and evil is not good............so your argument immediately collapses.
