Why not insititute a swear jar? Every time he utters a swear word he has to put a quarter in a jar. If he continues, up the anty and make it a full dollar. Once he starts to see the money add up it will be more of an incentive to stop.

Also remind him that his son will soon start speaking the same way he is. If he doesn't want that to happen he'd better work on some self-control.

He threatens...you should never do that. Right up to the moment you walk out and begin a new life stooping to his level is a waste of time. It takes two to argue. When he tosses it out don't throw it back. Normal voiced statements in reply such as , 'I'm sorry you feel that way" or "I'll remember that" will show him that yelling at his next wife will only get her to silently leave when she has had enough. Make an appointment with a marriage counselor to work on this, your child needs to see his mother treated with respect. Your son does not need this lesson your husband is teaching him. Don't let yourself become totally dependent. Continue your education or go to work in your field on a part time basis. Education can never be taken away.
