Nick Mangold's (Center, Jets) younger sister plays on her high school football team. I can't remember if it's offense or defense, but she's a lines... person(?). And I saw a female kicker that was on her school's team.
Cheers!

2 main reasons.
1. Teams/Schools are very afraid of being sued. The possibility of some kind of sexual based misconduct (that a guy would cop a feel). Or that a girl would claim that a guy coped a feel and sue to school or team. Since we live in a such a lawyer heavy society, teams/schools aren't willing to even take a chance.
2. Safety/Responsibility issues - If a girl plays on a 'boys' team or a boy plays on a 'girls' team, then the school/team needs to provide separate changing facilities and must have the neccessary staff to be able to watch both locker rooms which becomes more difficult when the team has an away game and is not familar with the facilities (they also then would have to make sure that the team they are playing against has adequate facilities to handle a coed team). Basically, teams/schools are usually unwilling to take any risks when it comes to their sports programs.

Different skill levels, especially the older the competitors get. When I was younger there were a few girls on my baseball teams and my HS had a woman kicker. Michelle Wii attempts to compete with men but fails everytime and Ann Meyers tried out for the Indiana Pacers in 1980, but was cut. The chances are there on the highest level, it is just that men and women for the most part are different, that is why people freak out when Candace Parker can barely dunk a basketball, when she stands at 6'4".

Women do not have the same level of athleticism that men natually have in some sports, like basketball for instance. Artie Lang almost beat a WNBA player in a one-on-one basketball match! He lost because he was too out of shape to finish. It is not fair to women or men to place women on teams where they can not be competitive. The game is played to win, not so that everyone can have a chance to play. Women competing against women levels the playing field.
Alternatively, I have played co-ed softball and volleyball where the skills of women are much more comparible to that of the men.

Girls can and they've tried, but it never works out. University of Colorado football let a girl on and there was this HUGE fallout about her getting raped. No coach wants that so they stay away from the situation. Nick Mangolds sister (he's the center for the Jets) is playing High School ball and she is decent, but 99.9% of the stories that come out are negative so coaches just don't bother with it. Sorry

Fact is that women play in all sports.
Manon Rheaume played in several games for the Tampa Bay Lightning in pre-season before going to the minors.
Stephanie Weimer was her high school place kicker and tried out for Penn State.
But to answer your question for the most part to keep the team even. I agree that several 'skill sports' like pool should be equal.

Why can't boys play on girls teams in any sport? Why can't I go join the LPGA? Why can't I go play softball instead of baseball? Why can't I play in the women's tennis league?
Some sports it just isn't realistic. Football? C'mon.
I will say, though, that in my experience the ladies can play basketball. I have played against lots of women (some really good women's college players) and it's all relative in basketball. If they're good at it, it don't matter what kinda equipment you got in your pants....

You are on a football forum, and I am pretty sure your High School/College doesn't have a women's football team, so if you want to play try out! Otherwise, then it is becausee they have a women's team, and if you were allowed to try out for the means team then people that aren't good enough to start on the men's team would try out for the "women's team" and you would then have two mens teams. I think you can also get away with Baseball in most cases, becaus it's not softball. Alot HS football teams and Wrestling squad's have females on them, so I don't get your question.

Lets have co-ed showers too... Ya know I wish this would stop.. it's a PROVEN fact that girls can not compete on a mens level. Theres places for everything but equal rights here is foolish.. Equal rights is equal in ALL areas including ABILITY... You don't get equal rights JUST for being a girl.. If so then thats not truly equal rights.
For another reason.. what about the unknowing expecting mother?? come on be realistic... there are so many reasons...
Even in the LPGA which is about the only sport even close, the tees are shorter, and there is not even one that can truly compete at the same level as men. Why would we want to take a step back just to accomidate female players?
Think of it.. the first time a girl got tackled in football they'd be screaming NOT FAIR.. RAPE!!!! and the courts would be filled once again with bogas lawsuits.
Lets take this even one more step.. Are you girls willing to walk around in the locker room naked in front of 45 men? If not you want special locker rooms so the coach at half time needs to 1st of all extend half time to make make adjustments in 2 locker room? Most stadiums only have two locker rooms.. so i guess we need to build 2 more on to that stadium to accomidate the female players?
Next do we need two separate training rooms so you girls don't feel violated?
You girls set this up by your constant complaint on equal rights, but according to you you want equal rights with exceptions made to make you able to compete.. If you wanna compete on the SAME LEVEL I'm all for it.. I'd enjoy watching a girl run around naked in the locker room, I'd also enjoy being able to treat you as an equal on the field, but if we did you'd scream unfair and you touched me wrong or you spoke to me inappropreately.
You girls are at fault.. you want EQUAL RIGHTS but only Equal Rights with special rules and accomidations.. You can't have it both ways...

Because you would never make the team.
To prove this once and for all, some NBA players should try out for a WNBA team and whoop all their asses.
Can you imagine tiger woods playing in the LPGA, there wouldn't be a dime left for the women. C'mon now...this is a dumb question.

I live in MN and I've seen quite a few girl wrestlers on the wrestling team of all boys. It's not that girls CAN'T play on boy's teams...it's the fact that it's not really socially accepted a lot of the time. I actually played football with a couple girls in high school...they were both linemen! (err...linewomen?) They weren't bad either!
