You didn't say if you already had a sump for the pump. This is the first step. You can get plastic sumps with lids. You really want the lid because of the water that is too shallow to be pumped could develop a smell and also for safety if you have small children. You also need to determine where the discharge pipe will be exiting. Find a clear path for running this line. You will need an electrical outlet (I prefer GFI and some areas require it). You also need to install a check valve to keep the water in the discharge line (after the pump kicks off) from draining back into the sump.

I grew up with one in the basement.
I eventually bought an old farm house which had one.
You don't give much info. but you obviously are going to have to dig lower than the floor and make yourself a sump, a hole in the floor large enough for the pump to fit into.
Plus the hole should be large enough to make a bit of a reservoir so that your pump isn't turning off and on too frequently.
My biggest advice for you is this, have a spare.
It is very important to have a back up. Whether it be a manual pump or electric, have some method of removing the water from your basement especially in the spring.
generally speaking, needing one is not a problem. But, I would look at the reason for the need to have one.It may be you can reroute external water from your house or it may be the water table is too high for the basement.Which is good for the well but.....
next, there is nothing like hands on experience,
Ask around and go see a couple which are being used right now.Chances are , there are some near you. All the best-----
