Yes, you are being paranoid. I am not an American and I do not live in a western country. The world is not divided either into east and west. It is not that simple. The world can, if we like, be sliced up in many ways, north and south, the Americas and countries outside the Americas, the Commonwealth and the rest of the world etc. Generally, it is not useful to divide the world in this way, and you cannot predict the behaviour of each individual in that "slice" of the world.

Even if we thought (inaccurately) of the world being divided only between "the east" and "the west", we need to understand that neither is a homogenous entity. In the west, if you will, the United States is completely different from Canada and Mexico, and these are completely different from France, Britain, Germany and the Czech Republic. These countries are then different from one another. There is to some extent shared values but these, contrary to the belief of many people in the Islamic world and in Africa, where I live (I live in South Africa), do not include war mongering.

The "east" is not homogenous either. China is nothing like Malaysia, Singapore or India, and these countries are nothing like one another.

There have definitely been instances where Hollywood conveniently made a whole group of people out to be evil, which is sick and should have been condemned worldwide e.g. at one time time, all Russians were portrayed as troublemakers. The same happened with how Hollywood portrayed all South Africans. I was effectively portrayed as being racist and stupid by virtue of the fact that I was born on a piece of land called South Africa. Hollywood does this a lot with the Arabs, and that needs to stop.

This said, I have found it is usually the Islamic countries that portray non-Muslims, especially westerners (particularly Americans) as being vile, evil, murderous, godless liars. I am afraid that the truth is a constant victim in most Islamic circles. I have a Muslim friend who does not believe everything she hears, and who thinks for herself. There are Muslims like that all over the world, both inside and outside the Islamic world, who choose to see how destructive stereotypes are.

I do understand that you are concerned mainly as an Iranian and not as a Muslim, which you may or may not be. However, it is not an anti-Iran thing. A lot of people all over the world are rooting for the Iranian people to be free and to live in peace. Many Iranian leaders and their supporters unfortunately do not want to choose peace and freedom, and millions of Iranians suffer at the hands of their own government.

To sum up, you are being paranoid in this instance. There is no need to feel threatened or insulted. I am not insulting you and most people in the world are not insulting or threatening you.

you are paranoid. 300 is based on a comic that has been out long before 9/11. and the other movies you mentioned would have been made whether 9/11 happened or not.

You are absolutely right...........you are paranoid !

"Alexander the Great" was also filmed in 1956.

"The 300 Spartans" was released in 1962.

"You Can't Win 'em All" was a 1970 film about Greek-Turkish war.

"Helen of Troy" was released in 1956.

Nor is it coincidence - it is simply Hollywood's typical reaction to the success of the first modern "sword and sandals" epic - Ridley Scott's "Gladiator"............that film worked, so let's make a shed load more like it and jump on the bandwagon.
