this happens to my mouse sometimes for no reason, try shutting down your computer (shut-down not restart) and re booting, this always works for me.

I didn't see your other question, so have not viewed the answers... If you had a disc/software that came with the mouse, I would try uninstalling it and then re-installing it. Sometimes that works. Is anything else wrong with your computer/hardware since the other day? If so, you could try Windows System Restore. You can 'take your computer back' to a date where everything was working fine. This process is fully reversible and non-damaging to your computer and can some sometimes fix minor problems/glitches. If none of the above works, then I would invest in a new mouse.

The scroll wheel is a mechanical part, and does wear over time. So it is conceivable that it just died. The only other thing I can have you try is to uninstall and then reinstall the drivers for your mouse. If that does not work, replace your mouse, it's dead.

Turn off your computer.
Turn your mouse over. You will see on the bottom a center disc with arrows. Turn the disc to the left to unscrew it. Do this at your desk as there is a ball under the disc, don't lose it.
Take some alcohol and clean the ball, drying it thoroughly.
Inside the mouse you will see lint and crap. Use a cotton swab with alcohol and clean out the inside of the mouse.
Let dry thoroughly, insert the ball and screw the threaded disc back in.

For about $10 at Walmart you can get the Micro mouse- it's plug and play! It's not worth all the effort for $10!

there is USB a million.0 and a couple of.0 standards, with 2.0 being backward well matched with a million.0 configurations. in case you have a USB 2.0 mouse it is going to be waiting to artwork in a USB a million.0 port on your computer, yet no longer the opposite.

Yeah, buy yourself a new mouse. The wireless ones aren't bad, although they tend to go through AA batteries quite quickly. Good luck.

It is broken. For the sake of a couple of quid I would just replace it rather than spend ages trying to find out how to fix it.
