Seriously, it depends on the monitor. Flat panel LCD is easier on the eye than CRT.

you must not surfing the internet non-stop for like, 2 hours n such. LCD computer is much safer for the eyes than CRT type of computer.
then, you must wear shades or special glasses or even screen-filter so the bright lights from the computer didn't go directly to your eyes.

its not the matter of surfing internet only that ruins eyesight but it is staring at an refractory object such as computer screen, tv screen etc that ruins the eyesight, it adds stress to your ability of focusing as well as amount of light entering the eye continously. so yes it does ruin eyesight

It does ruin the eye sight.......as the rays that are emitted through the monitor screen produces heat..... eyes cannot bear the heat.... eyes should be kept as much cool... by regularly washing it with cold water......
