Yes if a horse was bitten by the most poisonous snake in the world it could die in a manner of hours depending on the location.

Most snake bites occur in the face/leg regions of the horse (id est. the horse was sniffing the animal and got bit), which can quickly lead to the horses nostrils swelling and shutting.

In most cases however; the horses that are bitten don't die, but could if proper measures aren't taken. Tissue damage could develop into bone infection (osteomyelitis ) or gangrene, leading to death.

Animals can take weeks or months to recover.

The most common horse related snake bites are rattlesnakes, but you will find that most ranches actually have bite kits prepped and ready for this sort of thing.

The ranch I worked at always had rattlesnake injections ready should the need arise for any of the cattle/horses/people.

I actually came very close to getting bit by one last summer, while working on the guest house at the ranch. It was about a foot away from me and I had earplugs on so I didn't hear the rattling.

Luckily I saw it in the sand and backed off before anything serious happened.

I can tell ya though, it's one hell of an experience to get that close to a rattler.

It does not even take a super-dangerous snake to kill a horse.

Now, horses have a few things in their favor:

1. Their lower legs are mostly tough tissues that many snakes would have a problem biting through.

2. Most horses are sensitive to snakes and usually stomp them ASAP.

3. Horse circulatory systems are such that they can actually become immune to small amounts of venom- in fact, we make most antivenins by giving a horse a small dose of the poison.

None the less, horses are not immune to venom, and have been killed in the past- even by relatively small or weak-venom snakes.

The Inland Taipan, aka Fierce Snake, is a very rare species and believed to be the most toxic of all snakes.

The venom injected in a single bite from this snake is sufficient to kill 100 adult humans

unless a horse is stronger than 100 humans, I don't see how it would live.

I think logically yes it would kill the horse, but I have a friend that has a blue healer dog that use to catch rattlesnakes and kill them and has gotten bitten and it not hurt the dog and if that was a person you know they would die, but I know that some snake can bite and not inject venom and some of the can chose the amt that they want to inject.

Not only can the horse die, but he can fall on you and kill you also, so be careful.
