Im totally not anti-gay, I have many gay friends, but have never asked them this.....
If gay men are attracted to Femenine qualities, why dont hey just fancy women?
And like wise, if lesbians are attracted to masculine females, why don they just fancy men?
I meet a lot of lesbian couples who are very masculine, and gay couples who are extremely femenine. It confuses me.
Can anyone shed light?

When it comes to the characteristics of a potential partner, gay men are just like everyone else, they each have their preferences. Some like effeminate men, others don't. Now, because of your limited exposure, it could be that that is all you've seen, but be assured it is not the rule. I am considered quite masculine (I get hit on by women a lot) and I do prefer the same qualities in my men but that said, I have on occasion enjoyed the company of a more effeminate man, not because of their femininity but because of who they were. They either made me laugh (humour is important to me) or made me think. Bottom Line, there are no general rules for this, it truly is, in eye of the beholder.

My only thought on that is that there are different "levels" when it comes to sexuality. Sometimes I think that sexuality is not as cut and dry as we'd like to believe. I don't know if that's hormones or what but I think it has to do with the theory that most people are a little bit bisexual without ever realizing it or even needing to know. I don't think we are born either just gay or straight. I think there are a million levels in between but we lump people into one category or another. How else would we explain straight women who are sexually attracted to very feminine but straight men. Why would they find something feminine attractive if they are not a lesbian? There are also straight men who are attracted to very masculine women. Those people aren't gay but yet they are attracted to certain traits of the same sex. I think it's confusing because we don't understand as much about human sexuality as we think we do and when we try to figure things out, they don't make much sense sometimes. When we can't fit someone in a neat little box, we get all confused.

I am gay. I will say I like the person for the person. If I meet a guy and he is a little fem, that is him. I fully support people to be how they want to be. I am very masculine, but does not mean I have to be with someone who is masculine. I like guys in general. Of all types and races. Just as long as they are themselves. A fem guy is a long ways from a woman. There is nothing wrong with woman. I just like them as friends only. There is many differences. LOL.

Actually, most gay men prefer masculine gay men. But gay men as a group are less hung up on whether one of their friends or boyfriends happens to be effeminate.
Some gay men actually prefer effeminate men, but this is a minority. Straight men are bothered by effeminate men, because of their own deep insecurities about themselves.
Secure, balanced straight men don't care if another guy is masculine or feminine. Most gay guys reject the 'rules' that insecure stragiht men try to impose on others.

Well...not all gay men are attracted to the feminine. My freind Grant was very butch, and true he liked the less masculine guys, but they flocked to him. I think the answer lies in the penis. I mean, some straight guys like girly girls who are all sexy, while some prefer tomboys who can keep up with them. But in the end, they still like vagina. So it goes with gay men I imagine.

I'm not extremely attracted to feminine guys.
I think it has to do with the feeling you get with a guy. Its all chemistry. Iv never felt the same about a girl as I have with guys.
Also, a man has a penis and a woman as a vagina. A man does things differently and acts differently no madder how feminine he is.
I honestly don't know how else to explain it.

Who said the attractions always go that way? I know plenty of gay couples that don't fit your stereotype at all.
If I had first met one female with 12 fingers instead of ten I wouldn't be inclined to think all females had 12 why would you make such an assumption?
