Myrna Loy was one of the best by far. I especially enjoy the six "Thin Man" movies with William Powell.
Another one of my favorites: She played a judge in "The Bachelor and the Bobbie Soxer" with Cary Grant and Shirley Temple.
It would be a close call between Myrna Loy and Barbara Stanwyck. Stanwyck made 32 movies in the '30's. Some of my favorites are:
(1) Ten Cents a Dance (2) Union Pacific
(3) Banjo on my Knee (4) Annie Oakley
(5) Stella Dallas (6) and my favorite from the '30's: "The Mad Miss Manton" with Henry Fonda, Hattie McDaniel, Penny Singleton and Dixie Dunbar. Very funny with a touch of mystery added.
