Star question!!

You are absolutely right.... had it not been for this selfishness and hypocrisy of the majority of us, our world would have been much different....
the least we would have easily achieved would be no one going hungry or undernourished in our world.....
our capabilities could have very easily achieved that .....
but the fact is that almost a billion people (1 out of every 6) come under that category!!!!!!!!!!!

It really hurts to know these stark truths of our selfish and insensitive world.

it is true for some people but then again if you dont concentrate on making urself better and satisfied then how are u supposed to help anyone else? everyone is selfish to an extent and thats normal. if you have a thousand dollars and spend 500 on urself (new clothes, maybe even a nice dinner) and choose to give 300 for charity or even a friend in need then ur not selfish. you earned the 1000 dollars and that gives u a right to "pamper" urself. its all about the intention, some people have money and they donate to charity but they donate used clothes and a little cash. thats selfishness. true generosity is when u make the effort and realise that even poor people have wants and needs and thus u go out and buy some nice new clothes to give to charity or even donate ur own time. Intention is the key word!

I think many pple are as you describe, have met them in my life but through the years, I found out, that those ppl you listed as A and B, are the way they are, just shielding their emotions in order for them not to get hurt. Like a "defense mechanism".
It would be too sad, that all humans or the majority belong necessarily to A or B.
Let's have some hope here!! Good luck!

a) I think among all living beings, humans are really unique in their ability to think and act for the good of many, not only themselves. As Charles Darwin mention, 'cooperation is man's greatest asset.'

b) being artificial is often a side-effect of a)...people care about their image because they care about th opinions of others. Sometimes the disguise is so good, that they actually do the things they pretend to do...

i always feel that one of the reasons to make our existence in this world more satisfying is to try to help as many lindividuals as we can, the more people we touch and change their lives for the better is also a way for us to make our existence more fruitful and interesting. principles is not something that people should based their lives on but rather something that should guide them and should be change accordinglY to what is right and just at the moment it is needed and applicable. in short it should be flexible but must always be right, just and charitable, and guided with love toward your fellowman.
