Cheap beer... blak! yuck!
I love my wine, and that is my first choice, but I have found that you can have a phenomenal wine that is inexpensive. One of the national favorites is "Two Buck Chuck" you can buy them in Trader Joes. There are others as well.
Now may I have another glass of Zin?

For me cheap beer, I can't swallow cheap wine. But I have to at least have a little buzz from better beer before I drink the cheap stuff.

Definitely cheap wine. That's why it's not uncommon to see the bed of an old pick up filled with cheap beer cans, but you never see it filled with cheap wine bottels. Cheap drunks know what's best there.

Life it too short to drink cheap beer. Cheap wine may still be pretty good, if you don't expect too much from it.
