Often in dreams I see a huge abyss - on an alien planet, several miles deep and with nearly vertical sides. After talking to someone (possible another part of myself?) I discover that I can fly! - and enjoy exploring the depths whilst still "conversing". How weird is that?

silkie1...what sort of questions do you ask? is an abyss pleasantly conversational, my dear friend? I should think so too, if i was locked up comfortably in a padded cell, that is... and i have talked to an abyss too, because it reflects the depths of my mind...the abyss that i talk to is the height of one of the grooves in my fingertips...

In general I find I can have much more sophisticated conversations with "the abyss", or myself perhaps. Fortunately I have one friend with whom I can have very, very nice conversations. But most people really don't understand the art of having a good conversation.

Oscar threw himself onto the chaise lounge.
'I'm not - I'm not - I'm NOT middle-class'
His uncle Alan, was squatting in the corner. His uncle Alan suffered from schizophrenia. Uncle Alan was shitting in the corner.
'The abyss to me' said Oscar .... his words trailed off ... he put the back of his hand to his forehead
'The abyss ... is my only friend'
Alan wiped his hand on his mouth.
'Do you want me to make you a sandwich?

I find those whom have not looked in the void downright boring. Life's lack of transcendent meaning is quite interesting. It makes one look to new sources for fulfillment.
