It just so happens that My dog was injured! He has such thick fur that I didn't notice it at first. He is at the vet now getting treatment. He was attacked by something. He has huge puncture wounds in his side.

Yo Guitar dude--
There are any number of things that can cause trauma within a dog-- so-- you have to get an assesment of this problem fairly rapid here !! It could be a psyhical thing OR it could be psychological in nature !!
First thing here is to make sure that he knows that YOU know he is having trouble and that you are there for him---work at making sure he is comforted and aware that you are "tending to his situation"----take note of any signs of psyhical trauma --and if this situation persists---get him to a vet right away !!

There are disorders that happen with dogs that come up out of the clear blue that can be life threatening !! And, one thing is for sure --- when dog's play games--you know that they're playing games--- when they're not--- you know that too-------
There also could be something going on that the dog senses that you are unaware of---- make a very CAREFUL inspection of your entire permises--- and be aware that sometimes dogs have got the keenest sense about danger and circumstances that are not normal !!!

A call to the vet's office would not be out of order here---once you are convinced that the homeplace is free of any reasons why he is acting in this peculiar manner !! One thing is for sure--- when a dog is not acting in their usual manner---something is definately wrong !!!

It looks like you have done all you can do at this point...
I would say the reason he didn't move before was he was hurting...
My cat has been sick lately and was throwing up and peeing places on the carpet she shouldn't...
But we found out it was the cat food and no not the national scare kind...
She just is older and couldn't eat the gravy kind without getting sick...
I bought her new dry food and she is doing better...
However we have a dog and she is afraid of storms and all that comes with them...
We bought her from an animal shelter years ago and she is so afraid of storms...
I think because she spent a lot of time outside in them...
