And if you did choose to find the owner and couldnt. Would you hand it in to the authorities?

Me, I think I would choose to keep it. Is that wrong?

I saw a women drop something one day which turned out to be $100 note so I ran up & gave it back to her but if I found $50 on the ground with nobody around I would keep it. I figure if you see who drops it you should give it back but if it's just lying there it's finders keepers.

Keep It~No Chance Of Ever Finding Owner

If it was cash, I'd keep it because it would be almost impossible to find the HONEST individual who had originally lost it. 9 out of 10 people on the street would end up saying, "It's mine!" If it was a check or credit card or included with a wallet or purse, I'd definitely try to track the owner down first. I would hate to think that if I lost the money that someone wouldn't be honest enough to return it to me. I'd probably give them 50% reward for their honesty anyway. Half is better than nothing.

I think that I would keep it unless there was someone walking around looking for it then I would hand it over but if not then I would keep it. Also I think the authorities would look at someone funny if they brought in only 50 dollars. Thats just my thinking anyways.

If it was $50 on it's own just sitting there I would keep it. I've handed many wallets and stuff into the police station, but I think if I handed in $50 the cop on duty, or desk person who took it would probably keep it anyway.

If it was in a wallet, I would take the effort to find the owner. However, a loose bill on the street is close to impossible to find the proper owner of. Keeping it is acceptable if there doesn't seem to be anyone to claim it.

I'd look around and if there isn't anyone there, I'd go donate to a charity or give it to someone I know who needs it most.

I wouldn't keep plainly because I won't be able to rest easy knowing that I kept a large amount for myself. Maybe the person who dropped it had this to last him or her for a whole month and with these scenes playing in mind, I'd feel guilty.

I'd keep it if it's just a 50.-back in about 1980 me & a friend found a box in a field wrapped in plastic buried under a rock filled with $100./500. bills, we took it to his house, he showed his mom, & she requested to call the police & turn it in.

$50 - no wallet/no ID - that's mine
$50 - w/ wallet/ID & phone number - I'd call

Turning over to authorities - no way! Maybe if the amount is really big (like several hundreds), I will! That's as honest as I can get!

I would hand it to the owner if finding them was a reasonable thing to accomplish; otherwise, I would keep it.
