My son is almost 8 months old and was breastfed until he was 7 months. I was pumping and giving him breast milk in the bottle since he was 3 months old (his preference). Now he's completely on the formula and doing fine. I don't get engorged breasts with lumps anymore when I don't pump, but when I do, I still produce milk. Should I pump even less often or completely stop, so whatever milk I have in my breasts gets burned?

Express for comfort hun.

As you know yr boobs are on supply and demand..

When in the shower, if youre engorged, massage yr boob/s a little and let some milk out. Until you have relief.

Gradually this will decrease.

Well done on 7/8 mths of b/fing.

Kudos to you for breastfeeding, first of all! Next, there area variety of ways to stop. Just stop pumping works-your breasts are on a "supply and demand" mode and when you stop the demand, the supply will then stop as well. If you should find it uncomfortable, take a hot shower and massage your breasts to eleviate the discomfort and to express some milk. Do not mimic the sucking reflex too much though! Another remedy is to use frozen cabbage leaves. This helps to minimize the discomfort and to help to stop the production of milk. I was told by my doctor to avoid this method if you are allergic to Sulfa drugs though. Yo ucan always express some milk as well via pumping or hand expression just enought to eleviate the discomfort.
Best of luck to you!

Just pump less and gradually wean yourself off of the pump. That's what I did and once I wasn't getting more than an ounce coming out I completely stopped. Good Luck!

best to just stop as the more you pump/feed, the more is produced!

i stopped a year ago, but some will still come out if in warm bath and washing breasts! but less an dless each time.
if when you dont pump there is no discomfort, thats a signal from your breasts that its ok to stop nw too.

hope this helps

This will sound quite weird, but what you can do to stop the milk production is place frozen cabbage leaves inside your bra.

Go to the store and buy a head of green cabbage. Stick it in your freezer for a day or so and when they are nice and cold stick them in your bra. When they get warm and limp replace them with new leaves. Within a week or so (maybe less depending on how much you are producing now) you should be dried up

Just stop. It may be uncomfortable for about a week, but eventually your supply will just stop...usually. I had a next door neighbour who had a baby at 30, breastfed til she was 33 and was still producing milk at 50 !! A hot shower will give you some relief until your supply dries up

Best to stop the pumping. Nature pretty much knows when it is time to stop. You can try stopping cold turkey or do it gradually and less often. It will be easier than you think.

Try not to pump or express at all. each time you express and pump, your body thinks you need it so it makes more. If it gets absolutly too painful, epress only enough to make the pain/pressure go away.
