Leg side is the half of the field to the rear of the batsman as he takes strike (also known as the on side).

Off side is the half of the pitch furthest from the batsman's body as he takes strike - i.e. the right half for a right-handed batsman and the left for a left-hander.

legside is to the right of the batsman and offside is to the left...it is different for left-hand and right-hand batsmen
