Why is my comp is slower than usual?

I installed Flyakite OsX. It made my comp slow so I uninstalled it and restored my system to before I installed it.
But after doing that also my comp is a bit slower than usual.
My startup took exactly 1 minute but now it takes about 2 minutes.
I ran CCleaner, Window Washer, Uninstalled Flyakite, and cleaned my registry with different software.
What can I do to restore my original speed without messing around on msconfig(already did that) ?

Doing a system restore in Windows XP works only some of the time. That feature only examines system files and replaces those that have changed. It doesn't look in the "Program Files" folder, and doesn't necessarily get rid of new files that were installed as a result of the setup you ran.

That's why using it is a hit and miss.

Here's some general advice I give in situations like this one:

Over time, things will slow down as you install and uninstall programs. The Windows "registry" becomes cluttered with broken links and bloated data.

You can use programs like "Registry Mechanic" to do some house cleaning in there, but the best way of course is to format your drive (which erases EVERYTHING) and reload Windows from scratch. It's a bit time consuming, but it's well worth the time. You'd be surprised how much of a difference that can make. If you decide to go this route, reload all the programs that you need one-by-one in case there's one in particular causing things to slow down.

Once you have things configured the way you like them, make a backup of the drive using a program like "Acronis TrueImage". That way you can go restore your system in the future back to this point in just minutes instead of hours.

Look up a program called HijackThis. When you run it, it posts a giant list of tasks, and copies it to a text file. You can then post this text file onto one of the HijackThis friendly sites, and someone will be sure to help you.

You can also try defragging your hardrive.
