Sexual maturity happens at different times with different turtles. Most have to be about 4 years old or so, or a certain size.

The basic technique is simple- courtship ritual, which is different for each species, then mating. In mating, the male sits on top of the female's shell and reaches his longer tail under the edge of her shell and lines his cloacal vent up with hers. From that point on, it is pretty much what most other species do.

The male is ready around age 5 which is puberty for him. They do it the way you would expect. They hook up.
