Now that our season is over due to a lose to Ohio St., do college bb fans still think memphis was overrated. All season long, people said that memphis played in a weak conference and did not have many quality wins (which was true). Also said that they would loose early in the tourney. But I think the tigers showed that they were legit. They beat good Nevada team and a very good Texas A@M team. The elite 8 game against Ohio St. was a head to head battle until foul trouble got us in the last 5 minutes. I am not talking trash and I can understand to a degree why people thought memphis was overrated during the course of the season (I slightly wondered myself). But the fact remains that they showed how good they were when it counted. We are loosing one player (off the bench but good player) and have a top five recruiting class coming in so watch out for next year.

I don't think Memphis was overrated. How could they be when they made their seeding, and beat two very good teams (Nevada and T AM) to do it. Considering this was supposed to be a bridge year between strong teams, Memphis fans should be very encouraged. They will undoubtedly be stronger next year and a capital L Legit title contender.

The Memphis Tigers still lack the big victory that proves to everybody they are legit. They don't get those games in conference, and the only time they do beat ranked teams is to early in the season for people to even care by the time the tournament comes around. This year they were overseeded, and placed in the weakest bracket of the 4, the San Antonio Region. They beat North Texas, but didn't look great in doing so. They then beat Nevada, who was less legit than Memphis, they had no quality wins at all. Then they beat Texas A&M, a team that was overrated all year based on potential, even though their only accomplishment of the whole year, and the Acie Law era, is a road win over Kansas, and a Sweet 16 appearance. They did about what I expected against Ohio State, they had the athletic ability to play close with Ohio State, but lacked the talent to stay in it all the way to the end. Memphis is a talented basketball team, and people underrate them because of the conference they play in, that is why so many people picked them to lose to teams like Nevada & Creighton. However, Memphis lacks the big win, over a team that we know is good, in a game that matters. Once they get that, people will believe they can do it again.

Gotta admit Memphis had a good season and impressive recruiting class. Looking foward to seeing Derrick Rose from Simeon High School. Plus, I think they got somebody from St. Patrick H.S. in New Jersey. I forgot his name though.

I actually think they were about right. A few times this year I thought they were ranked a bit high, but I think they were about right as far as seed and ranking.

More experience and if all your players do come back, I see them elite 8 again or possibly final 4, depending on how they land in the brackets.
