When you are given a function like this one
f(x)= -8 -2x and says to find f(-4), it just means that you need to substitute x by -4... so
f(-4)=-8 -2(-4)= -8 + 8 = 0

f(x)=-8-2x
if f(-4),
then replace all x with -4

thus,
f(-4)=-8-2(-4)
f(-4)=-8+8
f(-4)=0

f(x) = - 8 - 2 x
f(- 4) = - 8 - 2 (-4)------- now -(2) x (-4) = 8
f(- 4) = - 8 + 8
f(-4) = 0
