I saw a study, done in Israel, where new mothers' IQ does go down for a short time after birth. Now, if they'd do a study on the IQ of people who've just had back surgery or some other major event, I'll bet their IQ is down for a day or two. LOL
A more interesting part of that study was a test for a mother's sense of smell. Most animals know their babies by their scent. Any farmer can tell you that a sheep or other farm animal recognizes their baby by smell. The hospital in Israel brought new moms several baby's undershirts and asked them which one had been on their newborn. Amazingly, most moms would pick the correct one. I never would have guessed that humans had retained, or ever had, that sense of smell. The data seemed to indicate that a woman's sense of smell is much better than normal for a few days after giving birth.

Not true at all. I just read an article in American Baby magazine that explained that because of the poor sleep, lack of energy, and distraction, you are not able to concentrate and forget things more often than when you weren't pregnant. The best thing to do if this little thing called "mommy brain" happens to you (especially in a public place) is to just laugh it off. Trust me, you have no other choice.

Sounds about right to me and I dont know anyone without a baby including myself. Lack of concentration, absentmindedness, etc all happens during and after pregnancy. It doesnt stay that way though. Eventually we all recover. We have to, to keep up with those cunning 2 yr olds! lol

Absolutely not true! However, it is common for women while pregnant to experience what I call "the stupids." This scatterbrained-ness, forgetfulness and inability to concentrate is caused by hormones and is only temporary, thank goodness.

For some it would seem that way (I've worked retail.) For others it seems that they've morphed into evil geniuses. My mom had kids and learned to reign us in with NO WORDS SPOKEN, just powerful "mom" looks. That's smart, right there.

there is no scientific truth in that statement . but after giving birth to children whether they are boys or girls, women do not show interest in other things and their entire world is their children.

If it's true, you might've just had a baby for asking that question.
