Christians have been convinced of his second coming since the day he died.
His apostles, right up until their deaths, knew that Jesus would be "right back".
Christian Romans who were present during the sack of Rome were so terrified by the carnage that they were convinced that they were living the tribulation period.
Dark Ages monks looked back at the majesty of ancient Rome and knew they were standing at the end of history.
Christians in 999, on the eve of the 1000th anniversary of his birth, felt that 1000 A.D was a nice even date for him to return.
Martin Luther? Said Jesus would come down and BEAT UP those silly Catholics
Napoleon was widely regarded as the antichrist.
So was Hitler
So is Osama Bin Laden
Anyone remember Heaven's Gate? I don't remember what those guys were about. Anyone remember?
How about 2000 A.D, where illuminaries such as John Haggis were convinced that Jesus was coming at THIS nice, well rounded, date.
Forgive me, but I am a little disillusioned with the whole "coming back soon" thing. People would rather take him as a conquering king, who would be their master, rather than a teacher of ethics, whose life and death is of secondary concern.

He was born in 1919, baptized in 1948 when the jews returned to the promised land, and taught Gods law here on Earth for 37 years, fulfilling the remaining years of his time on this planet in human form. Isaiah said he would be a new David and he would rule for 40 years like David. But his first time around 2000 years ago he only practiced his ministry for 3 years. After his second coming and preaching of God's word until 1985 he died.
Didn't hear about it? Well, of course not, he was just a poor humble man. You will have time to hear about him in these final days before God's last judgment. Keep your ears and heart open.

The origins of the doctrine of the rapture are hotly debated. The Orthodox, mainline Protestant, and Roman Catholic churches, which represent the majority of Christians worldwide, have no tradition of such a teaching and reject the doctrine, in part because they cannot find any reference to it among any of the early Church fathers [1] and in part because they do not interpret the scriptures the way that Rapture-believers do.
The Truth of Catholic doctrine is just as true now as it was 2,000 years ago, no matter how badly it may be presented in our confusing times. Hang on to the Faith and never let hierarchs or bad presentations of the Faith keep you from Truth and the Sacraments.

It is true that the bible does not give a specific day or year. However, if you let the scripture interpret itself, it does give a general time line. It says one event, the armies surrounding Jerusalem, will trigger the great tribulation. This will last for 2 and a half years. At the end of the tribulation is the Day of the Lord, which lasts for one year. Finally it says Christ will return during the last part of the Day of the Lord, and usher in a new era of peace.

If he really did come back, do you think he could change the world at all? Would anyone believe him? How would he prove his identity?
