Technically speaking, your rising sign -- or ascendant -- reflects the zodiac sign that was ascending on the Eastern horizon at the moment you took your first breath in this world. This is why an exact birth time is so vital to finding your accurate rising sign. Located on the cusp of the first house of your astrological chart -- or at the nine o'clock position -- the rising sign can exert an influence almost as powerful as your Sun and Moon signs.
If you were to think of your Sun sign as your soul -- your inner personality and potential -- and your Moon sign as your heart -- your emotional core -- then you could say that your rising sign is your physical self or the face you present to the world. For example, though your Sun sign might be Taurus, your rising sign could very well be Gemini. While you're feeling laid-back, others will tend to see you as a ball of nervous energy and cerebral wit.
At times, your rising sign may act as a mask, hiding some aspect of your inner self you don't feel like revealing. What's your mask?
The Sun Sign is what most people know without a doubt. It is also (usually) the most obvious part of the personality. The Sun is the conscious self. It is the behaviour one is most comfortable with. It is the every day, fair-weather self. But there is much more to you than your Sun Sign..
.. when emotions run high....
That's when the Moon Sign comes out. We generally react in emotional situations according to the Moon Sign. This is the primal, subconscious self. You may even fantasize about behaving more like that sign, but it may not feel natural to you unless you're filled with happiness or sadness or anger. The Moon Sign also comes out when you feel very safe - either by yourself or with people you trust.
But what about...
The Rising Sign?
This is the most difficult element of the chart to explain, but may be even more important than the Sun Sign. In a nutshell, it is the Higher Self. You came into this life with one of the 12 signs of the zodiac on the horizon. This sign represents your horizon - your aspirations, what you look for in the world, and what you want to reflect. It is not surprising that much of your outward appearance, or the way you present yourself to others is determined by the Rising Sign, (and also by any planets that were rising when you were born - the Sun, Moon and planets rule the Zodiac - so a person with Venus rising is much like a Libra or Taurus rising, and Moon rising is just like Cancer rising, etc.) We want to attract and bring into our lives that which we aspire to. A Libra rising person looks for beauty, equality and comfort - and his/her natural beauty and charm are helpful in bringing it. An Aries rising individual looks for excitement and new challenges. Her/his look of bold determination and fearlessness is conducive to finding it!
Why is the Rising Sign so important? Once you discover why you have the particular Rising Sign you do, you will be on the road to realizing and sharing one of your most powerful gifts.

It is always good to know as much about your astrology chart as possible when reading the daily and weekly columns. Your Moon's placement colors your emotional self (at the most basic level), Mercury's influences your mind, Venus how you receive, and so on. Each sign has a ruling planet.
Rising is also known as ascending sign. If you are up early and see the Sun rise today, know that the sign Aries is rising today (30 March) along with the Sun. Therefore the sign is moving around the earth as the Sun makes its daily progress. So, if you were born at dawn on your birthday, the Sun sign is also your rising.
It is usually interpreted as "the mask you wear over your true self". The true self being your Sun's placement. This is how some people, who underneath are rather shy and retiring, can suddenly display quite a dramatic flair (I'm thinking of two Virgos I know who are both Leo rising, one was once a professional and income deriving actress, the other can take on roles as the situation needs.)
I would suggest you read your Sun's placement, then it's ruling planet's placement (usually different, unless you are a Leo), the Moon's placement for emotional events of the time frame... and the rising sign for how you interact with the world. Stick 'em in your mental blender and see how the day or week unfolds for you.
Remember, it is quite an art to synthesize all the data into a two to three sentence guidepost for a reader to apply to their life. Sometimes, the author is tired and behind on their writing schedule. If the writer is just off base all the time for you, find a different column to read.

Look at Sun Sign astrology as the fun aspect of the subject. Astrologers will calculate what's going on in the skies and how this relates to Sun Signs but this is only a tiny percentage of all else that's going on in individual birth charts. Have your chart drawn up and analysed by a professional. That's the serious side of astrology. It can be psychologically enlightening.
Rising sign is the sign ascending on the Eastern horizon at the moment you were born and can only be worked out from your exact birth details.

I personally have never enjoyed horoscopes since they have proved false on numerous occasions. I believe that by the 'opposite' of your horroscope occuring perhaps that's a signal that you shouldn't let your horoscope guide your life. Might I suggest fortune cookies instead- their generic interpretations of life with simple wise sayings are far more reliable than horoscopes and are absolutely delicious and fund to open!

Because you need to read your rising sign. Horoscopes in papers and magazines are based on "Every aries, taurus, whatever, is born at noon." They can't possibly sit there and calculate or print 144 million different combinations for each sign , planets, and aspects every day. If you know your rising sign, you'll find if you read that, it will be a tad more accurate.

horoscopes are for the millions of people sharing the same sign.
it's not always that wht's written will match what happened to u.
take the example of india in worlcup, in their match against bangladesh, the horoscope was they will likely win but they lost.
if the horoscope of the national team is not given correctly by some grat astrologist, hoew could one expect that his/her matches .
believe in urself and take the horoscopes just for fun may be after this ur horoscope may turn out to be true
best luck.

Once upon a time, there was some accuracy in horoscope calculation. Now everybody has started using the same for money..so you really wont be able to expect to foresee your future. My grandfather himself is a astrologer, and i have seen so many things he predicted which really happened to us..But ideally it is very rare to find a gem in this area, and i would suggest i fyou know of somebody who is old enough and has been in this field for quite sometime, likely it can be true to you..
