Has been sitting in the rain, where the tub has rusted in a spot. Is there an enamel paint that will withstand the heat AND not affect the clothing?

yes there is..you can use the enamel paint that they paint motors for cars....once it drys it wont come off and can withstand 250 degree heat...most dryers operate somewhere in the 140 degree to 170 degree range..it would also be a good idea to check rollers and motor as they may need lubricating...if motor has been wet it needs to be completely dried out before using dryer...plus motor bearings will need to be lubricated with 20 or 30 weight motor oil

Take sandpaper and clean up the bad spot(s). Then wipe the insides clean with a wet/damp cloth, and run it that way . Don"t worry --it won"t hurt anything--forget the paint--operate it as is --after you clean up the insides. Your clothes will be fine.

if it stays for the full 6 weeks of rehab, goes to regular dryers anonymous meetings, and abides by the 12 step rules. Be encouraging to it. Good luck.
