Generally, when you factor something of the form:
x^3 - y^3 = (x - y) (x^2 + xy + y^2)

So... in this case, since 27a^3 = x^3, x = 3a
Likewise, because 8b^3 = y^3, y = 2b

Now...
27a^3-8b^3 = (3a - 2b) [ (3a)^2 + (3a)(2b) + (2b)^2]

So...
27a^3-8b^3 = (3a - 2b) (9a^2 + 6ab + 4b^2)

27a^3 = (3a)^3 and 8b^3= (2b)^3

a^3 -b^3 = (a-b) (a^2 -ab +b^2)

27a^3-8b^3 = (3a-2b) (9a^2 -6ab +4b^2)

27a^3 - 8b^3 = (3a)^3 - (2b)^3
= (3a - 2b)[(3a)^2 + (3a*2b) + (2b)^2]
