Kobe is the best player in the game. While less athletic than superfreaks like Lebron , Tmac, or Vince, he more than makes up for it with his incredible skill, coordination, and basketball IQ. Kobe's game is just very smart and polished compared to Lebron's. Another factor is that Lebron right now isnt a great defender. Kobe is by far a better on man defender.
Also, there are few players right now that is as clutch as Kobe. Kobe is perhaps the most mentally strong player since Jordan, and has been ridiculously clutch throughout his career.

Lebron still has tremendous upside....so much so that he has the potential and physical tools to be the greatest....but right now, noone can touch Kobe.

I think Lebron is a better all around player, but his play isn't as developed as Kobe's. I would agree w/ previous answers that Kobe is better now, but Lebron will surpass him. Work on those free throws, King James.

Please dont mention LeBron in the same sentence as KOBE. Kobe is the best player in the NBA and LeBron is still unpolished and he also lacks that killer instinct and also is not a clutch player. You guys remember the game last year between the Cavs and Lakers when it was close and in the last like minute and a half Kobe hit three straight jumpers in LeBron's face, but each time the cavs had the ball kobe was on LeBron and he passed it to his teammate.

Of course Kobe, any day of the week. If you asking as a player. However, if you asking as team player, I would go for Lebron.
