my dad told me that a while ago being left handed was like a sign of the devil. Why is this? What thinking would lead a person to think this?

Most people were/are right handed. It's because if you were different you weren't part of them. Remeber them black problems? Some white people thought the blacks were gonna kill them. It's just humanity at it's finnest. We're all such poor shmucks!

If you look up Dexter and Sinister, they refer to Right hand and Left hand, respectively. There are MANY connotations of a historical, traditional nature that link the left hand to the feminine, the underworld, the foul hand used to wipe oneself with, and on and on. It does not make any sense now, but way back then they thought the earth was flat too.

Once in a while I have to say I don't know. I know that in the bible God placed all the bad to his left and the good to his right.But your Dad was right about people thinking anything left is evil that is why the Republicans started to call Democrats left and thus sending a subliminal message to voters that they Republicans are right winged.

ok ill tell you but its gross,
in japan and asian countries when people went to the bathroom they didnt have toilet paper so they wiped with their left hands so noone really wanted to shake hands with a lefty.
i know gross, but im lefthanded so we cant be ashamed because the majority of society isnt
