If our Legislative Branch passes legislation and sends it to the President for his signature and he signs it into law, why can't the President be held responsible for ensuring that that legislation is carried out to "the letter of the law?"

I realize that the Judicial branch of government is responsible for the enforcement of legislation signed by the President, but isn't the President and the Executive branch also responsible to "the people" to whom they have sworn an oath tho protect and defend the laws and Constitution.

Case in point, we have laws regulating legal entry into the United States, yet our Congress, Legislative and Executive branches of the government are failing miserable when it comes to protecting our borders. This appies not only to the mere illegal crossing of our borders, but the smuggling of illegal drugs and humans to be used in some forms of forced slavery or allowing them to be hired by unscrupulous corporations who exploits them by paying mininal wages.

The Judaical branch IS not responsible for enforcement! They judge if someone is under the law and if a law is constitutional. The Executive is the enforcement branch. The President can not enforce anything if congress does not approve the spending to provide for the border patrol agents or build a fence. The best way to protect our borders is simple. Enact a shoot to kill policy, and do it!

The president can be held accountable, under the Constitution.
It's called impeachment.

And no, the Judicial branch is not responsbile for enforcement. Enforcement is the sole province of the Executive branch.

The Judicial branch just determines if the law is valid, and determines what it means relative to other laws.

A minor point: The judiciary is NOT responsible for
the enforcement of law - only in interpretting it and
sitting in judgement. Enforcement is carried out by
extension of the executive branch.

A major point: The executive branch will not enforce
it if it costs more money than it has and/or it does more
damage to enforce it than to not enforce it.

while I agree with the others on the executive branch being responsible for the enforcement...it can only do what it can with the resources it gets and people will always find a way around sneaking into the country...you can not hold the pres accountable as an illegal beat the bprder patrol...
