I was approached the other day by a man who had a "I support the troops" bumper sticker. He also had a christian symbol (the fish) on his car. Another sticker said "Osama DEAD OR DEAD" on it. Now dont get me wrong I am all for finding Osama. But he had the nerve to preach to me because I am gay. One of the most important commandments is THOU SHALL NOT KILL. Yet its okay for someone to support the war but its VERY wrong for me to be gay. I am almost 100 percent positive I am sure GOD would much rather have someone come to heaven who is gay over someone who has killed innocent people. I just dont get why I am one of the few people who sees this issue.

The bible says a lot of stupid s**t that contradicts a lot of other stupid s**t that it says. It was written thousands of years ago in a dead language- you can basically use it to support whatever crazy, racist, evil belief you already have. That's why anyone who starts every sentence with "the bible says. . ." is a moron.

its not just you....its the christian fundamentalists.....they are almost as bad as the Muslim extremists and we in America somewhere have replaced the republican party with Christian fundamentalism. Not to rag on all republicans cuz there are those that do not go to this extreme...but it seems a trend I will say in the Bush administration and those who strongly and at times seems to blindly follow it, that any distraction from the evil of this war (I say that being a former military wife, thank god my husband is out now) that is why Gay issues have become such a hot topic...god forbid gay people have the same right to be stuck in a marriage and fight and threaten divorce and save the marriage and go through the traumas and joys that a marriage brings (for some reason that ring on the finger and saying those vows truly does change things...not that I would ever give up my husband no matter how things go..I love him too much) but god forbid a gay person get rights to see their spouse (oh wait....life partner) in the hospital if something traumatic happens, or god forbid a gay person gets to be the person to make final decisions for the person they best knew....and they don't stop with Gay issues either...when that ran cold they brought up the ever hot topic of immigration....as the war gets worse and worse, the immigrants become a bigger and bigger problem....I am sorry I didn't realize having my produce picked and brought to the stores was such a detriment to our country....or the fact that they don't use our systems for medical, or welfare or even to help when they have had a crime committed against them because they don't trust our government or any government....there is a reason they are over here instead of Mexico in the first place....its not cuz they get welcomed with open arms and given royal treatment here.....its cuz they get abused by their own corrupt government there too.

I am sorry for your misstreatment, but know others do see this problem as well

You aren't alone. Many people see things the way you do.

One question, though. How did he know you were gay? Do YOU have a bumper sticker?

Keep the faith--God will be glad to have all GOOD people with Him in Heaven!

EDIT: What Bible are you folks reading? Mine says, "Thou shalt not kill".

For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son.... and for his death all sin is forgiven.

You are one of the only people who see this issue because it is a non issue. You state that homosexuality is less of a sin than murder, so to say. Yet, martyrdom, the act of dying for ones religious beliefs, is one of the most highly regarded ways of life that we can practice....

All sins are forgiven if only the sinner asks for forgiveness - you might want to check the fine print on that but last I heard that was the case.

And by the way, you are stepping on very dangerous ground and seem insensitive to the subject.

I am not saying you are right or wrong, but no sin is less or more than another.

well... the biggest lessons were pretty well laid out by Jesus... and to boil them down...

it's "let God do the judging", "love the sinner" and of course, "none are with out sin"...

the old testament says a lot of things that Jesus clearly changed, so it's not really a practical guide to anything... for example we can eat pork now... which was just as much a sin as homosexuality back then....

really, as far as I can read... the most any real Christian could say to you would be "I don't agree with your choices, but I love you none the less, let me know if you need anything"... and leave it at that...

as far as the war is concerned... Jesus didn't really talk about that a lot... he preached peace though... but he also said "render unto Caesar"....

I'm only going to tell you once. The Christian befief in God is all screwed up, it has never been accurate, and will never be. Now that we have that straightened up. please disallow any comments by rock ribbed Christians as being the work of people who have no liking for anything, including gays. I'm not gay, but I have been accused of being the reason gays go to church. Christianity could have been cured but for a nail shortage. don't listen to them. You cannot offend God. Go in Peace .

For starters, It's "Thou Shalt not Murder".

And the bible is full of wars and conflict.

I can 100% assure you God doesn't condone murder, but He basically told the Jews to destroy Jericho and take over.

EDIT- Sorry, dante, you lost me at the loose change reference in the other post. So, I"m also going to point out that God doesn't condone homosexual behavior, either.

The Bible does not say thou shalt not kill. It says you shall not MURDER. The Bible also says than homosexuality is wrong, but it also says eating pork is wrong. As I understand scripture, they are equally sinful. In other words they are commandments that apply to committed Jews, NOT to every one else.

The bible also says "eye for an eye" and you should protect your homeland. So what point are you trying to make besides your gay?

To arejoker, I have read the bible and I know what it says do you? Besides In what religion in the word does it say its righteous to be homosexual?

Religion is rarely internally consistent. Any religion.

His religion says that gays are bad, and killing is bad unless you are killing a bad person. That's just what the religion says.
