many think that Marx was an advocate of socialism/communism when is reality he was a social theorist like Weber or Locke. Marx saw socialism as the natural consequence of the maturation of modernism. It was Lenin and Trotsky who created 'scientific Marxism' which we now refer to as Marxism (read communism). Social evolution will see systems of belief rise and fall and perhaps as we approach a mature modernist state we will see is Marx was right in his belief that humanity will achieve true equality though the freeing of humanity via technology. What do you think will be the result of social evolution? Equality?

Not while 2% of the people on this earth own 95% of the wealth. And who would take it away from them? Who COULD?

I, personally, think that we would have to be much higher in the state of evolution to accept "equality", though it is a lofty dream.

But, if we were that highly evolved would we desire revolution? And how would we wrest the riches from the rich without revolution?

Naw; Karl Marx was a political economist who thought that he was a philosopher. He had no concept of mankind and just how weak we truly are. He believed that man would ultimately rise up to control his own destiny rather than, as we end up doing, fighting on the side of the oppressors (Big Business) against ourselves for a few scraps.

Karl Marx was a political and economic philosopher who lived during a time of extreme poverty, classism and disease that ran through Europe. He was responding to the major economic and philosophical issues of his time combined with how he saw the world he lived in. He was an incredibly well educated and very intense man who was not always right on everything, obviously, but had alot of influence on modern and contemporary philosophies, critical theory and governments for better and worse. And like many philosophers, he is misinterpreted by the small minded in our midst.

The Messiah for looters and moochers. Men are NOT equal. Sure, once we're all genetically designed to be identical in physical appearance and mental capacity, we'll achieve equality.

Good comedy.

Marxism doesn't want equality. It wants everyone the same. That's different.
